At the end of a rainbow is a speck of cold...Campuestohan Highland Resort

with Santa
It all started one afternoon as we drove to the mountains passing through the east along Brgy. Alangilan, here in Bacolod. It was cold and the view of Panay Island was just perfect. Looking at the mountain at the back of the log cabin was a site to see. I was introduced to the plans and development of this resort by no less than our friendly neighbor, better known by the kids in our street as Tito Cano Tan 'Gwapo'.

Soon enough, in August 2012 this family getaway, was open to the public, which started with seven rooms at the log cabin, picnic huts, a swimming pool and a children's playground. Every time we visit this 5-hectare mountain resort at sitio Campuestohan in Brgy. Cabatangan, Talisay City, there is always something new to discover. As good friend, the late Bob Aizpuro, a planner and considered to be the 'dean' of tourism officers have said, in order for a resort to be successful in its business, there has to be a compelling activity.

Campuestohan Highlands is a certified accredited mountain resort by the Department of Tourism, meeting the standards of what is expected of a resort. There are eight  Bonita huts that can accommodate a maximum of six persons, one room at the shoe house good for four, another one at the bathhouse good for four and one loft room inside the giant king kong which can accommodate six persons to a maximum of 12, plus seven rooms at the log cabin.

Recently, we went back to check out the latest facilities. The kids had fun horseback riding @ 150.00 for 15 minutes, then they walked around passing through the three-story high hanging bridge, and went swimming at the big foot shaped pool.

While enjoying the cool breeze as Mr. SUN shines on you, don't forget to apply  sunblock or better yet, wear your coolest sunglasses. Teenagers and the young at heart fall in line to try out the six story high zip line, in 30 seconds you reach the other end - the heavier you are the faster you zoom away sitting or flying like superman. This is the only zip line that traverses through the whole resort, that if there were 1000 guests that day, all of them will get the chance to see you. Most zip lines are always limited to a certain number of spectators.

Best for team building and the adventurous is the rope course (obstacle course), which is the most modern in the Philippines today. There are 21 challenges, at 235 meters long, that would take a new bee 30-45 minutes to finish the challenge and receive a certificate of accomplishment after. The fastest ever recorded challenger made it in 3 minutes and 40 seconds. Can you beat that?

Always bring a camera with you and don't miss selfie time, the sight of huge sculptures of King Kong that roars welcomes you to Campuestohan Highland. Kung Fu Panda and friends, the Avengers composed of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Hulk or meet the Justice League led by Superman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Batman and Flash plus the rhinoceros where you can sit on and have family and friends picture taken together .

Kids are entertained with the mini train @ P20.00 for the ride which can accommodate about ten kids, plus the latest addition, a 'transformers' themed playground and soon, a sky bicycle.

The presence of Campuestohan Highlands has brought jobs for 40 individuals, led to the paving of the road at the sitio and is instrumental in the installation of the street lights that can even be seen at night towards the east.

Campuestohan Highlands is accessible in less than an hour's drive from Bacolod City passing through Burgos street all the way to Brgy. Granada and Alangilan. They provide two air-conditioned 25-seater shuttle service for tour groups, in case you will miss the weekend shuttle that leaves at 9:00 AM from Bacolod and departs the resort at 4:00 PM, vans for hire is also available beside Grace pharmacy, Villa Angela Arcade -east for P100.00 per person.
