Sojourn in Seoul

Probably one of the busiest time to travel is the last week of October where it falls on a long weekend plus the holiday in the country. It has been months since we planned the trip with family and we had to consider budget fares, safety and a tour package   worth the time and best for the family. Coming from a tropical country where one visitor would describe our climate today as   wet, wetter, dry and drier, we wanted to make this vacation an experience worth remembering. Trying out on another country with a cold weather. Indeed it   was already cold when we took off   with    a typhoon signal number 1 at NAIA for a four hour flight to Incheon, South Korea. First we booked for a ticket, applied for visa then after having been approved we started preparing for our outfit which included winter warm touchscreen gloves, winter bonnets, jackets and boots for women with comfortable inner shirts and scarfs plus a lip balm for the relief of chapped and

It was a sunny Sunday when I decided to take a grab car to the north terminal and ride on a bus to the ‘Cradle of Negros Civilization’. It was my first time to take a bus to Silay City   and pay Php 23.00 for an   air-conditioned ride.  I went down by the 1925 San Diego Pro Cathedral and called on the ‘tri-sikad’ to Balay Negrense, the museum is one of the 29 heritage houses in the city which made it to the top 25 tourist destinations in the Philippines in the late 1990’s.           This was no ordinary day at the lifestyle museum, there were white canopies at the garden and many people came for the 6 th Kaon Ta food festival. About 42 booths participated by the food   providers of Silay. They were themed according to   Heritage with the participation of Emma Lacson, Nieves Kitchen, German Unson Heritage House, El Ideal, Mariel’s and The Mansion, they also had a variety of   Seafood   and Inasal by Chicken House, Seaside Floating Resto, Edgewater, Tama

Negros: Your Weekend Getaway

O ne afternoon I received a call from my mom’s best friend, she informed me of their arrival on the weekend and asked me to take them around. It is seldom when your tita’s come to visit you , and so I had to drop everything for dear family.   We met at the hotel when they arrived from Dumaguete,  a group of visayans from Bohol, Dumaguete and Ormoc. Coming from a road trip we drove to Campuestohan Highland Resort after a sumptuous lunch at L’Sea Dimsum.  The resort  always has something new every time I visit with guests, there are more  sculptures of animals friendly to children and millennials. A colorful painted cow is by the mill, the famous brontosaurus welcomes you at the park, you can sit on a bench shaped like a crocodile, or touch  a t-rex, meet a spinosaurus or a snake where some make sounds which takes you back to Jurassic time.            Campuestohan has more swimming pools, a foam area by the wave pool, KingKong is an attraction too with the

General Juan Araneta Monument The first week of November began with a down pour   all over the island, but this did not stop us to go around and visit about eight cemeteries around as a part of tradition on all saints and all souls day to offer flowers and light a candle for the departed and say a little pray for our beloved friends and family. Some tombs   had so many flowers and colourful candles, some we visited in the evening did not have flowers at all, perhaps forgotten.   Neneng who owns a flower shop at reclamation area by the mall had so many orders even on the 31 st and had to decline walk in clients. A small basket cost Php150.00 or Php2,000.00 for the bigger ones, beautifully arranged , as loyal clients we ordered a day ahead and two flower shops were already helping each other just to meet orders.   In public cemeteries, it was like a maze, all free spaces were filled up, we walked over tombs to reach the resting place of family, we even saw an empty, old and destro
