The Masskara festival indeed brought

 about a lot of tourist and visitors to 

Bacolod last October 2017. 



Many groups came and kept tour guides busy.


As I was watching tv early Saturday, I received a call asking me to guide our visitors from Manila. There I was inside a rented van with eight millenials and our dear family friend Asher Abino, a Negrense who is now residing in Manila for a weekend visit. They arrived last flight of Friday and were able to book rooms at the L’Fisher ecotel as early as June this year, they were right smack in the middle of the party area. 

 
They are engineers and young professionals who planned this trip for two years, they went to Mambukal Resort, 



 

tasted the batchoy with spareribs at a local restaurant, the chicken inasal


and enjoyed the street party and the electric Masskara, and the best part shopped for more goodies from our local stores ending up paying for excess baggage ,yet they had fun and are now planning to come back and bring their families for the Panaad sa Negros 25th celebration.

The town was known as Manlambus, a Visayan term meaning to strike with a club because its coastal waters were then abundant with fish, catching them could simply be done by using a club or lambus. It is believed that Escalante was inhabited since 11 th A.D. per artifacts unearthed by Siliman University Anthropological Team in 1975-76. Bulang Bulang Festival

           The week is a celebration of festivals from the City of Talisay, Don Salvador Benedicto, Candoni, Pulupandan and the town of San Enrique. Luckily, we have good weather wherein people can move around and enjoy the dances from the mountains to the sea. It was high noon when we travelled about 37 kilometers to the south on a well paved and asphalted road network.                It was the celebration of the 113 th Annual Town Fiesta with the theme, ‘Pagpasalamat kag pagsinadya para sa kauswagan sang Banwa’. The festival was highlighted by a character dance presentation and competition of six tribes which showcased the movements of a fighting cock and its relation to the lifestyle of the people like game fowl raising, breeding and cockfighting. Manang Pula to Manapla

It always rains in August where flowers are in bloom and fruits are abundant, this is the month where you get to taste the sweetest rambutan, lanzones, santol, native pineapples and the mangosteen. When travelling to the north of Negros Occidental, makeshift stalls made of bamboo and nipa stalks are lined up along the main highway where fruits are on display which makes you stop and shop.   On this Sunday morning, the sun shined brightly, we were wearing our sunglasses as we walked along the streets of Manapla for the 145 th annual town fiesta also known as the Manang Pula Festival. This day was the highlight of the weeklong celebration, Manang Pula is a term used to call a beautiful maiden named Crispula Santillan who married a Capitan named Bernardo Gallo one of the first inhabitants in town, when people   then asked for the towns name they would answer 'Manangpula' and later shortened to MANAPLA.
