CHANGE HAS COME
IT was the first day where change in government in the local and national scene began, we now face the challenge of the new administration, this is the first time that we will have a president from Mindanao, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte, a well-educated man, experienced local government chief executive and represents the masses.
It was indeed a very colourful election last summer likened to a town fiesta where people are so much involved. This is the day where victors gather to a formal ceremony which marks the beginning of their term as public officials.
In the recent Inauguration and Oath taking ceremony held at the Provincial Capitol, Governor Alfredo G. Maranon, Jr. on his third term together with Vice Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson, Provincial Board Members Rommel T. Debulgado, Antonio Encarguez,Sr. , Salvador Escalante, Jr. , Samson Mirhan, Manuel Frederick Ko, David Lacson, Jose Maria Alonso, Victor Javellana, Alain Gatuslao, Renato Malabor Jr. and Pedro P. Zayco looked so elegant in their Jusi Barongs with the lone female Provincial Board Member Helen Zafra in her Mestiza Gown.

The Provincial Capitol Building was decorated with tri-color drapes in red, white and blue, the center piece was the huge seal of the province which became an instant photo wall for selfies and groufies, with the sides adorned with flowers and plants.

The afternoon started with the Thanksgiving mass officiated by Most Reverend Vicente Navarra, Bishop of the Diocese of Bacolod and Most Reverend Gerardo A. Alimanaza, Bishop of the Diocese of San Carlos. Most Department and Office Heads were also in their Filipiniana attire where they have been reminded the day before to dress accordingly and be beautiful, each of the heads were assigned to assist visitors as well.

Senator Franklin Drilon attended the mass and oathtaking ceremonies, Negros Oriental Vice Governor Mark Macias with Mabinay town Mayor Ernie Uy also came showing support to our officials as one island region. Mayors and city and municipal officials also attended the affair together with our private sector partners who works closely for the development of Negros Occidental. The Kabataang Silay Rondalla welcomed the guests and visitors with music, the Negros Singing Ambassadors sang the National Anthem and the Negros Hymn. This was followed by the ceremonial swearing-in of newly elected officials from the members of the Provincial Board, Vice Governor and Governor administered by Executive Judge Anita G. Chua. The Sagay Junior Hosts Ray Owen Malundo, Cesar , Yna and Steffy introduced the Governor as Inaugural Speaker. Sagay City Children’s Pop Choir performed the finale song ‘Where Love for Nature Begins,’ cocktails and entertainment followed at the Provincial Capitol Lagoon and Park, the affair was simple yet elegant. Kudos to emcee Ian de Ramos, SPCD Head and staff as well as Karen Dinsay and staff, both worked hard preparing for the event and indeed it was a success!
The success of the new administration in our province and the country depends on us the people, we abide by the law and work together hand in hand for a better Philippines.
