Photo Exhibit on the Lights of Bago




 
Every first of January, all roads lead to the City of Bago, for the synchronized musical fireworks display at the Manuel Y. Torres Memorial Sports Complex, the event has brought families, friends and visitors from all over the province to watch the spectacular fireworks display.

 Now on its 7th year, a photo contest was held for professional and aspiring photographers with the use of DSLR cameras and mobile phones.

Recently a photo exhibit opened at the 2nd floor, West Arcade at Robinson’s Place showcasing the photographs of fireworks shot by photographers during the Lights of Bago. Mayor Ramon D. Torres cut the ribbon with judges for the photo contest. Event Action Officer, Vice Mayor Nicholas Yulo welcomed guests at the opening ceremony with Ms. Rose Mina, City Tourism Officer and the whole tourism staff taking charge of the exhibit. There were 26 entries for the Professional category and about 11 for the Mobile category. The photographs of the splash of fireworks in the sky in various designs and shapes from fan, fountain, stars, in different colors, tones and sharpness, some had a touch of human interest and others may look like technically enhanced photos, it was indeed a tough competition to judge, winners will be known by today on its last day of exhibition.
 
 Bago is about 21 kilometers to south from Bacolod, it is known as the rice granary of the province. There are farms and mountain resorts, a museum and interesting spots to visit in this city of ‘chimneys’, if you are lucky you can find a muscovado mill, trek to Mount Kanlaon, experience a massage on a waterfalls, feel the cool weather up there at Buenos Aires or taste the delicacies this city can offer. This is the city which is not only home of General Juan Araneta but to sports champions as well, this is the city which has a story to tell waiting for you to discover.
