...and so we live for love and laugh our hearts out with family and friends
December
is indeed the busiest time of the year; it will take you sometimes forever in a
taxi or a jeep during peak hours, as cars, vans, cane trucks or public utility
vehicles fill up the streets bumper to bumper. Malls have longer shopping time,
restaurants are full all the time, you have to wait for your turn or perhaps
you should make reservations a day or two ahead.

Yet,
this day is what we call as the Christmas rush, the refrigerator is all filled
up, the dinner table looks good, the scent of fruits like apples, oranges
grapes or kiwi is in the air. Most of you maybe shopping for gifts and more
gifts.

With
an affiliation from different groups, parties kept us busy the whole week. The
Negrense Blogging Society met a week earlier and it was fun listening to
bloggers sing their heart out with scores like 98, 99 and 100,this reminded me
of the movie Video King, where one has to sing out loud to have a perfect
score, we had prizes like pastries and delicacies from different shops in the
city. Another party was with the Dads and Grandpas of Saint Scholastica and the
University of St. La Salle exchanging gifts and playing the grab a gift game,
the Alliance of Tour Guides and Tourism Stakeholders in Bacolod also had fun
exchanging gifts, the food served at Ms. Elsie Gonzaga’s house was superb from
appetizer to the dessert like the tres leches and the must taste avocado mousse,
the best part was selfie with Santa Claus. Colegio San Agustin Bacolod teachers
and non teaching personnel had a themed party at L’Fisher, where departments were divided into continents as
we went global that night, it was fun seeing teachers transform into Africans
with costumes, some in Asian attire, our group were cowboys, and there were
snow birds in jackets, boots and bonnets.

Santa came |
The Provincial Capitol Employees had
a blast dancing the night away at the NOMPAC Gymnasium; prizes were raffled off
including extra roasted pigs with Julie Ann our office mate, who won a whole
lechon. One of the best events though was the videoke Christmas Party of the
Provincial Tourism staff at Zuu which was a double celebration for Raymund
Alunan Bayot who recently celebrated his birthday. Parties are fun especially
with lechon and pastries. I highly recommend home style cakes from Elsie L.
Gonzaga and Lilibeth Arietta, fruit cake bars by Marlene Monfort. Don’t forget
to take your medicines to stay fit and eat in moderation or shall we say, a
little of everything.

Bloggers are BIG too |
Thank you Santa Claus for the spirit of gift giving, this
gives us a chance to share a little of what we have. For three years now, my
husband Marcos who will turn 49 tomorrow -Christmas day, has been working on a
gift giving project with former classmates and friends, I can still remember
the first time we drove along sugarcane fields at the outskirts of Kabankalan
to deliver grocery items to the less fortunate, he would be crying every time
he goes back to the car. This year, we delivered gifts provided by friends who
cares, you would see the recipients deeply touched and some would even cry out
of happiness, one had nine children and they lived in a small house, they
didn’t have much food for Noche Buena and they were so thankful that they
shared freshly picked coconut and some fruits from the farm.

One didn’t have
money to have her check up, it was only two months ago that she became blind.
Seeing the poor contented and happy of what we give makes us re think of the
purpose of Christmas. This is a celebration of the birth of Jesus, our Savior.
Christmas is to live, laugh with friends and family and to spread the love in
the world.
