Simply Sipalay

Punta Ballo Beach

There is a jewel in the south where one can travel through bus or private vehicle on a three to four hour drive, about 178.4 kilometers from Bacolod  towards the city of Sipalay.

Sipalay City Hall
Believe to have its first inhabitants from  Dumangas, Iloilo, a small group of men sailed out in the open seas landing on the shore of Naga, now Sipalay Diotay headed by Basilio Debuyan who became  the town’s leader and changed the name of Naga to Siparay. There was an abundance of rice or palay then which was known as paray in his native tongue, the prefix ‘si’ is commonly used as an address of respect, until Chinese traders frequented the place and  pronounced it as SIPALAY. There are many versions of the story as told by the old. Through the years, what was once a municipality has developed into a city
