Mama Mia in Pamplona

Image
Its a cold afternoon, about a few kilometers from Tanjay via Pamplona and Sta. Catalina route, we drove to the mountain , I felt the hunger pangs until we found a restaurant by the road, where wooden cottages were filled with guests, i noticed a well lighted huge  LOVE, and wooden tables with a couch and a small playhouse with slide for kids. This was an open space , well decorated with plants and wood craft, they had lechon kawali, veggies, and paklay  ----the best part tho is that they had native beef  soup  (bulalo, lantiaw, balbacua and native chicken) . Raf's and Nat's Kan-anan serves good food, and the place has large space for parking and very clean restroom which is very important for out of towners. This time, I play tourist in the other side of Negros where i spent years in college and high school, growing up in the most friendly university  town -Dumaguete. This is just a a short drive  towards our destination for the day, Cafe Alicia. The most instagrammable attract

'Manlambus: The Festival is Back

Image
The town was known as Manlambus, a Visayan term meaning to strike with a club because its coastal waters were then abundant with fish, catching them could simply be done by using a club or lambus. It is believed that Escalante was inhabited since 11 th A.D. per artifacts unearthed by Siliman University Anthropological Team in 1975-76. It was created a municipality on November 28, 18 56 on orders of Gobernador Manuel Crespo,  with Nueva Sevilla (now Old Poblacion) as the seat of government. In 1860, Fr. Cipriano Navarro, the first Spanish Missionary assigned to the place renamed it to Escalante, after his hometown in Spain. Escalante was then a very big town with population bigger than that of Bacolod until  1939. However, Toboso, one of the biggest barangays of the town was separated from it in 1948 to be a Municipality by virtue of Executive Order No. 141 by President Elpidio Quirino decreasing its area and population. The seat of the Municipal Government was transferred from Baranga

A quick visit to the town Vallehermoso

Image
A third class municipality with a population of about 40,000 , is this simple yet has a very rich in history known as a beautiful valley from atop a hill- Vallehermoso. One Sunday noon,  we went to look for a beach where we can rest and have coffee, then we passed by this town, where my friend has recently been re-elected as Vice Mayor. There were many people at the park, and we saw the signage, Town Fiesta May 14-15- and in unison we said....wooooh!.  The town of Vallehermoso in the Province of Negros Oriental is the nearest and right next to San Carlos City, Negros Occidental in the north, this is also the town where we pass thru  Canlaon City, that zigzag road located at Barangay Tagbino, with picturesque walls which actually prevents landslide along the highway,  the nearest passable route to the coastal side of Negros Oriental from Northern Negros Occidental.  Fronting the town hall is the monument of Revolutionary leader and trader  Diego de La Vinia, he was born in Binondo ,Mani
